Elgar the moose from Norway is a half-grown moose calf who looks a bit clumsy and helpless. He has bandy legs and wags his little tail when he is really happy, which is almost all the time. Sometimes he does silly things, but that is only because he is a little scatterbrained and does not realise they are silly. Underneath he has a heart of gold. Elgar gets cold easily so his friends the pixies knitted him a jumper. Elgar did not understand why the jumper did not grow when he did and now it is to small. But he loves it so much that he will not take it off or get a new one. Elgar is friends with most of the creatures in the forest, the elves, the little trolls, the dryads and the little people. The only one he is a bit scared of is the nasty water sprite, the Nix, who can turn himself into a water-luly and lure creatures out into deep water.
