The real moose

The moose, (Alces alces), is Norway's largest mammal on land with a shoulder-height of more than 2 meters and a weight up to around 750 kilos. Its body is short, but it has very long legs. The fur is dark grey or dark brown. Only the male has antlers. The moose lives in the forest and feeds on leaves, branches and herbs. The female carries her children for nine months, and sometime between May and June she gives birth to one or two calves. The stock of moose has increased over the last years. They can now be found in the forest areas all over Norway. The hunting season varies a little from county to county, but normally it lasts for 27 days in the period between September 10th and October 15th. As many as 39 423 moose were killed in 1999. Our mooses of plush were also imported from Norway.
